BLADES OF GLORY AND ORDINARY PUCKS
These blades were skillfully sharpened by Eino Laukkanen, equipment manager for Ukkonen team from 1991 until his death in 2016. They were the blades worn by Leevi Peura when he scored his 100th goal for the team.
Laukkanen, who learned the trade from his father, outlasted many of the owners and coaches who came and went over the years. His dedication to the team was such that in 2015 he continued repairing a goalie glove that was needed for the game despite suffering a severe stroke.
Until 1999, Ukkonen imported their pucks from the Gufex production center in the Czech Republic. Due to rising prices on the international market, the team switched to procuring all pucks from RK Sports Supplies in Canada, whose pucks are produced in mainland China by Jinjiang Jiaxing Home Co., Ltd.
